In 1970, Paul interrupted his work in music therapy
and traveled to India to study with sitar maestro, Ustad Rais Khan, one
of the greatest exponents of Indian classical music.

aul’s
interests in the fields of music and psychology merged in
1967 when he began working as a music therapist at McLean
Hospital where Professor James Garland (now professor
Emeritus at Boston School of Social Work) encouraged him to develop
a music therapy program for adolescent psychiatric patients. Read

Morrie Schwartz, one of the world’s
most eminent authorities on the treatment of mental patients (the Morrie

Since
1974, Paul and his wife, Carla, have performed
concerts on their collection of instruments from around the world. In
1995, they moved to the Southwest where they founded Elation
Center for the Arts, an organization that fosters a sense of community
through cultural outreach: community concerts, music and dance classes,
and arts-in-education programs for schools. Paul and Carla have performed
their concert, A
World of Music, for over one million children in elementary
schools throughout the West.
Paul's is currently writing about his experiences with Morrie Schwartz, and also ongoing articles on creativity and the therapuetic use of sound. You can see a listing of articles and interviews here.
